The FaceBook hype has worn off but now I’m getting too lazy to write.

I can’t win!

Nothing day

the sedentary life No Comments »

Everyone deserves a lazy day every once in awhile and today was mine. You ever get so busy during the week and on the weekends it feels like you never get any rest. Thank goodness I have one more day when everyone goes back to work and no one bothers me. This morning I woke up to watching more of the Strobist DVD I purchased and finishing up the invitation card for our next Spiritual Convocation. Afterwards I did some online shopping, did my laundry and all of a sudden the laziness hits. I ate lunch and it wasn’t even 12:30 when I got back into bed. Next time I opened my eyes it was 2:00pm. Goodness I usually don’t nap that long. After working out I’m back at the computer to finish the night. I didn’t get much done today, but you know what, I’m totally fine with it. I could use another nothing day before I get back into the groove of being busy.

President’s Day

To set the record straight, I do not get President’s Day off. The company does not observe this holiday thus for the people who normally work on Monday, it’s a normal working day. Monday is my normal day off and I didn’t work, but if it was a holiday I would get that day to use for the rest of the calendar year.

I just went to the worst spin class teacher tonight. Spin is a fancy word for stationary cycling. There’s an instructor and she (never had a male spin instructor) encourages you to ride faster/slow while adjusting resistance. I’ve been spinning for quite some time and I find even though the class tortures me, I do get a good workout. After going awhile you find the good teachers and easy teachers. Some don’t push you as hard while some stay at the higher resistances. For me to gauge a good teacher, the teacher has to be able to spin at the resistance and speeds she tells the students. I’m always observing the instructor because in the back of my mind, I’m ready for the class to end. So tonight this instructor while giving us instruction in a monotone voice got off the bike multiple times during class to either adjust the music or walk around class. Not only that, 3 times during the class she gets off the bike stands there and watch us bike. I have respect and end up pushing myself harder if the instructor was able to perform to her instructions. I don’t know what to say except you’re the laziest spin instructor I’ve had.

Cell phones

Lately I’ve heard of legislatures working to ban the use of cell phones while driving. Use to I would have mixed feelings about this subject. This is a free country and we are allowed rights. Being able to talk while driving has been a convenience and it was often a safety net talking to a friend when driving long distances late at night. However there are more and more people who are driving while using their cell phones and it is distracting them to the point where they aren’t aware of their surroundings. Personally, there are some days when I’m aware and fine while on the cell phones but there are days where I’m hitting the drunken speed bumps on the side of the road. At least the days when I’m not as coordinated I’m aware enough to tell the person on the phone I’m having a hard time doing both to save the conversation for later. The statistics are staggering 1 in 20 accidents are caused by people on the cell phone driving. You know what, at those rates I’m willing to give up that right. Most of my driving is spent on the job and I’ve seen too many drivers unaware of their surroundings while talking on the cell phone. Let’s fine these people and get the repeat offenders off the roads. I’ll easily pull over to make a phone call if it makes our roads safer.
