Brazos Bend State Park

the sedentary life No Comments »

I haven’t done one of these nature walks in awhile. The plan was to go to this state park around sunset. Of course with people late we only had time to walk one of the trails. It happened to be one of the trails that had an observatory. Right at sunset, I was on top taking a picture. It looks like this HDR.

I’m very happy with the way it turned out. I was at the right place and the right time with the cloud formation like that and the orange cast of the sunset.

Here’s another one of my favs. Too long of an exposure makes the moon look like a blob but the observatory will have a better cast. Too short of an exposure and the moon will look right, but the observatory will barely have a cast. I totally dig the way it’s barely lit.

First of all Happy Thanksgiving to the few readers who read my blog these days.

This Thanksgiving was a little bit different from the norm. The norm is to have Thanksgiving with a handful of families in Port Lavaca. Well this year one of the families moved out of state, another chose to have Thanksgiving out of state with family and the last “usual” family chose to host their own Thanksgiving. Personally it doesn’t bother me who we have it with cause usually I’m stuck at the kids table and after the kids eat they do their own thing. No big deal for me to have Thanksgiving with one other family except it was hot pot. There are those who are a fan of hot pot and those who aren’t. I side with those who aren’t fans of hot pot. To me it’s boiled food that’s dipped it a satay sauce so all you taste is satay. Plus I get hungry really fast after eating hot pot. Didn’t matter though, cause all the calories I consumed I easily burned away from the basketball. One thing great about going home during the holidays is that there’s enough to run full court basketball. Every year I get slower and slower. Oh well, at least it keeps me in shape. Can’t wait for next Thanksgiving!

Rocket fan

The chances of the Rocket’s going to the finals are next to none. But you know what, I still love them and will stay loyal to the team.

I’ve been very busy the last couple of weeks. I haven’t been this busy in such a long time. Of course when I’m busy things I normally do get put off. The biggest thing I haven’t been able to do, and people keep asking is the pictures. I’m glad there’s a fan base for the type of journalistic photography I shoot. But now that there’s a fan base there are certain expectations. When I’m not as busy I can easily process hundreds of pictures. When I’m busy I process 0 pictures.

Busy + Tired = No Pictures Posted.

After tonight there will be a break. The Ministers’ Workshop workshop is the last big church event of the year so I’ll be looking forward to processing pictures like a mad man.

TV weakness

the sedentary life No Comments »

As I got busier in life slowly watching TV has been pushed so low on the list I hardly watch TV. I don’t believe in allowing a box to entertain depending on its schedule. Before when I had my own place I could watch TV whenever I want. Now comes the real test. The place I currently reside in has no cable. Will I be able to survive? Will I have the urge to watch TV? Keep in mind I’m a sports fan and no cable means no games.

Only time will tell.
